As they progress through their careers, young researchers experience increasing demands on their time. They often feel captive to a seemingly overwhelming flow of projects, experiments, emails, meetings that all call for their immediate attention and result in unrealistic expectations on what can be achieved in a day. Eventually, even high-performers struggle to deliver and end up depleted until, inevitably, performance will drop. This workshop will transform the way participants view self-management: instead of managing time they will start managing their energy in order to achieve and maintain high productivity in face of challenges. Using proven techniques from world-class athletes and high-performance teams, the focus of this workshop will be put on an overall approach and application of this concept to everyday academic life. |
