Lateral leadership: Leading in the sandwich position


Do you lead projects – but are in a so-called “sandwich position”? I.e., you are dealing with PIs, collaborators and others? You would like to generate more publications and lead people around you in your projects or labs – but you have no managerial authority to do so? Then you are in a sandwich leadership position. This workshop addresses the following:

  • Preparation task: Relevant topics, priorities, specific fields of action.
  • Concept of lateral leadership: trust, communication, power
  • Leadership and management: modules & practical behaviors
  • Don’ts: Destructive behaviors
  • Cases: Solutions and security for you
Learning objectives    

In this workshop you will:

  • Reflect on the most common issues within your peer group.
  • Receive a very compiled overview of the best leadership and management conception.
  • Learn what you can apply – and what isn’t too useful.
  • Clarify your different roles.
  • Discuss and exchange with your peers about best practices.
  • Reflect on room for improvement in your area of the organization.
  • Simulate and solve your cases.
